Meet Genet Berhane
Founder & Director
Passionate Advocate for Holistic Wellness
Genet Berhane is the founder and driving force behind Ethiopia Life and Wellness Center (ELWC). Her journey to wellness began with a personal struggle with high blood pressure, which inspired her to explore natural health principles and experience their transformative power. Driven by a deep passion for helping others, Genet established ELWC to empower individuals and families within the Ethiopian community to achieve optimal health and well-being through education, guidance, and community support. Her dedication to this mission is evident in her commitment to providing accessible resources and fostering a welcoming environment where everyone feels empowered to prioritize their health.
Our Approach
We understand the unique health challenges and cultural considerations faced by the Ethiopian community. Our approach is tailored to address these specific needs, providing culturally sensitive guidance and support. We believe in creating a safe and welcoming space where individuals feel understood and empowered to prioritize their health and well–being.
Unique Framework
Knowledge is power when it comes to making informed decisions about your health. At ELWC, we provide educational resources and workshops that empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make sustainable lifestyle changes. We believe that understanding the principles of health and wellness is key to taking charge of your well–being and creating a healthier future.
Transformation Stories

“I have been diabetic for ten years and all along I have been taking medications for it. However, after pursuing Ms. Genet Berhane’s lifeline counseling program for one month, I have fully recovered from the ailment. Over the last year, neither did I take medicine nor was I in bad health. My weight is now down from 145 pounds to 117 lbs.
The 8 Laws of Health: Our Guiding Principles
We believe in the body‘s natural healing power and base our approach on the 8 Laws of Health, guiding principles for holistic well–being and healthy lifestyle choices.
We follow the acronym NEWSTART to represent these fundamental laws:
Nutrition
We emphasize a whole–food, plant–based diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes to provide the body with essential nutrients for optimal health.
Exercise
Regular physical activity is crucial for maintaining a healthy weight, building strength, and boosting overall well–being.
Water
Staying hydrated is essential for various bodily functions, including digestion, circulation, and temperature regulation.
Sunshine
Moderate sun exposure provides Vitamin D, which is crucial for bone health, immune function, and mood regulation.
Temperance
We encourage moderation and balance in all aspects of life, including diet, exercise, work, and leisure activities.
Air
Breathing fresh air is vital for providing the body with oxygen and promoting respiratory health.
Rest
Adequate sleep and rest are essential for physical and mental restoration, allowing the body to repair and rejuvenate.
Trust
We believe that faith and spirituality play a significant role in overall well–being, providing hope, purpose, and a sense of peace.
